The Elizabeth Kelly Foundation (EKF) named after Elizabeth Kelly, a devoted and much loved librarian of the original Mississippi Mills (Almonte) Public Library, was established in 1985 to financially support education, learning and literacy in the community.
The Foundation contributes financial resources to community groups and associations, not-for-profits, charities and institutions, primarily based in Lanark County, that support literacy and life-long learning. Consideration is also be given to projects from nearby communities where there is a tie-in with Lanark County.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The Foundation provides financial support for programs and initiatives for education, learning and literacy. Support is given through the community's library network and other organizations and community groups whose values and vision align with the Foundation -- ..."provide communities with opportunities to promote literacy, education and life-long learning."
GOVERNANCE
The Foundation is a registered charitable (not-for-profit) corporation in Ontario, Canada.
The Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected annually from its Membership. The Board meets, as required, throughout the year.
An Annual Meeting is open to Members and the general public.
